IEUMUN 2021: IE School of GPA to Partner with Debate Club

Latest

After its inaugural online debut back in October, preparations for the next IEUMUN conference are already underway between the soon-to-be unified IE Debate Club and the IE School of Global and Public Affairs. Hoping to expand upon the newly formed relations the school has made with the United Nations and other organizations, the conference organizers are eager to push forward with the successes of the previous year. There’s even talks that the next conference may take place at the new IE Tower, if global health conditions permit.

In 2020, despite the challenges risen by the start of the pandemic, IEUMUN was launched as one of the premier international charity MUN’s. With participants from over 35 countries, the conference raised hundreds of euros – all of it donated – to provide relief-aid in Beirut and Yemen. The Debate Team and School of GPA have both made assurances that the charitable spirit shall continue in the future, and hope for even more impact with the coming second conference.

Not only was IEUMUN a charitable success, but a popular and professional one as well, receiving a top international rating on the organizing site mymun.com. Participants in the conference were treated to speeches from IE’s own GPA Executive Director Borja Santos and Francisco Javier Cantero Talavera, Acting Deputy Director General for the UN, Spanish MFA, as well as a professional workshop on foreign policy and conflict resolution. Some of the best delegates even won prizes sponsored by the IE Talent and Careers Department. The Debate Team is excited that this year may provide even more chances to provide attendees with unique and new experiences, trainings, and prizes.

For anyone interested in helping organize the upcoming IEUMUN 2021, good news! Applications for the conference’s Secretariat and managing staff have just opened, and will be open until February 12th. For those wishing to apply, click here. CV’s are requested. For more details, check out the Debate Club’s instagram or ieumun.com, or contact the Debate Team.
