Fashion Marketing Insight with Zalando


Last week, the IE Marketing Club organized an event hosted by Kate Hockey, the Talent Acquisition Early Careers at Zalando, and Tereza Obrtac, the marketing manager of CZ. This was a great opportunity for students to learn about the company.

Zalando is a German multinational E-commerce company that was created in 2008. Today, they have 46M active customers and are partnered with 4500 different brands. Zalando has become famous for all the features the platform offers, such as partner programs, marketing services, fashion store, lounge, fulfillment solution, outlet, and connected retail. The company offers to develop brand recognition and customer loyalty.

There are a lot of “Zalent programs” that encourage you to apply for if you like marketing. It is a very interesting company, and working at Zalando gives you a real-life experience. The working environment embraces more than 130 nationalities, with English as the company language. The hostess also emphasized the exceptional personal growth opportunities you can encounter there.

Although Zalando is experiencing a big success, as evidenced by their Euro GMV of 10.7Bn in 2020, the company keeps facing new challenges and obstacles to overcome, such as becoming the #1 fashion platform. Zalando tells authentic fashion stories to engage with their customers in a modern way to daunt competition and further the concept of “social company.”

They want to create love and really mean it: virtual shopping events leading conversations with customers are some actions to prove Zalando’s devotion to its community. Sustainability also took precedence over ‘quantity’; now, the company has to think of the greater impact of the business process as well as D&I (diversity and inclusion) because Zalando is a lifestyle brand for everyone.
