Once again, the USA has been at the forefront of food trends on TikTok. Videos of creators doing muckbangs in their cars after picking up their food from the drive through are yet again overflowing our explore pages—and always make us stay. 

But one trend that seems to resonate with everyone more than anything else: Crumbl. These infamous cookies have not gone unnoticed this year, reaching  every corner of the world, including, of course, Spain. And while some businesses attempt to follow their lead, our bank accounts as university students are feeling exhausted at this point.

If you love baking, this is something for you to try. If you’ve never baked before, grab your apron and get started. If you’re an international student curious about the hype, this article is for you. Whoever you are reading this right now, this activity is worth a try.

This recipe below will show you the exact measurements to obtain that signature Crumbl cookie feel in less than an hour; and trust me, it will take you even less to devour them. 

Crumble cookies are known for their soft and chewy texture. Unlike store bought cookies, which are hard and quite crunchy, Crumbl’s are a whole different experience. Moreover, it’s not all about the texture, but also the flavours. An immense list of toppings are added to the list of hits every week as their menu keeps changing. That is why, for those of us living in Spain, we have unlimited ideas on which ones to recreateso get ready to unleash your creative spirit!

In this recipe I will be showing you the basic chocolate chip cookie everyone knows and loves. Nonetheless, find attached a list of ideas for other flavors to try out!!

Ingredients:

  • 170 grams of butter
  • 75 grams of sugar
  • 150 grams of brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 280 grams of flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 160 grams of milk chocolate chips (Guittard recommended)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Cream the butter with both sugars for 3 minutes.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and beat until combined.
  4. Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix until the dough forms.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips using a spoon.
  6. Weigh out 150-gram portions of dough and form them into balls. Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Add more chocolate chips on top if desired.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the tops look golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the cookies rest for 15 to 20 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack. They’re best enjoyed warm.

  • Christmas-themed: For Christmas, try red velvet for a festive red color or make a s’mores inspired cookie! Add chocolate and marshmallow and you’ve got yourself the perfect toasted Crumbl s’more.
