If I could choose one last meal before my death, I would go to Da Mario. One thing we can all agree on as international students is that it’s hard to find good food from our home country. Especially in a small town like Segovia. However, Italians seem to be god’s favourite children because he gifted them with Da Mario. I am not Italian but my stomach feels incredibly grateful for it (unlike my bank account). I would argue that Da Mario is the best restaurant in Segovia for several reasons:
Quality of the food
Even though the menu offers a wide variety of antipasti, risotto, pizza, pasta and desserts, the quality of the food is unmatched. All the products are fresh and carefully chosen. If you ask for a pizza, you can be sure to eat it fresh from the oven. I won’t lie, I didn’t try as many varieties of their pasta as of their pizza, but it’s only because I found my match made in heaven with their gnocchi gorgonzola with walnuts. It is so delicious, the gnocchi are not overcooked and the sauce is not too strong. That combination plus walnuts… perfection ! I have only tried their gnocchi but I can say without a doubt that they must be as good as the rest of their menu. Last but not least, because we always need a sweet treat even when we’re already full, Da Mario offers many good desserts as well. As a tiramisu fan, their tiramisu is seriously to die for.
The decoration and location
Located near Plaza Mayor, just in front of the cathedral, Da offers Mario a great view of one of the city’s most stunning monuments. If you’re visiting the city with your parents and Jose Mario is already full, going to Da Mario is an attractive alternative you won’t regret.
Not only is the outside beautiful but so is the inside. While eating your food, you’ll get immersed within Da Mario’s spirit, surrounded by landscapes, images, and characters inspired by Italian cultures and Roman mythology. Eating at Da Mario with your family, your friends, your date or even by yourself, is always an enjoyable experience. Staff service is also quite good, and they are even nicer if you are a regular.
Da Mario is really that kind of restaurant you don’t get sick of. I’ve actually met someone who loves Da Mario so much that they almost went through the whole pizza menu. Here is what they can say about it:

“Out of all different pizzas Da Mario propose, I’ve tried 16, only 11 left hahaha”
Which pizza would you recommend the most and why ?
“I’d super recommend the acueducto, the carbonara and the burrata. But to be honest, there’s no pizza that I don’t like”
So don’t walk, run, to Da Mario. Even being on a diet or wanting to eat healthy won’t stop you from eating there again and again.
