The IE Lebanon Club | Interview With President

Latest

The IE Lebanon Chapter is a Madrid based club focused on bringing together the Lebanese IE students and alumni. They offer entertainment and social events while committing to helping the Lebanese community with anything they may need, including networking, mentoring, and professional experience searches.

Right now, they are focused on fundraising events to raise money for NGOs supporting the harsh impact of Covid-19 and the Beirut blast on Lebanon. Their last event was directed at this incentive too, it was an online dancing event organised with the IE Madrid Dance Club called “A Dance For Lebanon.”

The role of the club is to help the community WITH THEIR NEEDS, LIKE jobs, internships, mentoring, networking, AND assistance, but also for entertaining.

Interview with Elias Houeiss:

What is the IE Lebanon club?

The IE Lebanon Chapter is a student club at IE University that regroups all the Lebanese Students here. The role of the club is to help the community with anything needed (jobs, internships, mentoring, networking, assistance), but also to entertain (organising dinners, gatherings, etc.). This year, with the special situation that our country is suffering, we are focusing on organising fundraising events to help the Lebanese NGOs on the ground.

How can people join, contact or participate?

Students will need to join the club on the Campus Life Website to stay connected, we also have our Instagram page and a WhatsApp group for members. You can contact the President, Elias Houeiss, on WhatsApp +34 697 915 399.

What is your club most proud of?

The biggest achievement is that we can do events in these times of lockdown, especially fundraising events. We were able to plan an online dance for Lebanon to raise funds for Lebanese NGOs. Also, we are working on a pre-recorded online concert and an art exposition.

What upcoming events do you have planned?

  • Donate Love For Beirut: a pre-recorded concert on Valentine’s Day with the IE Music Club.
  • An online exposition with the IE Arts and Business Club.
  • A tech conference with Lebanese People from Amazon, Google, and Facebook.

Why should people participate in these events and what can they expect?

To get to know the chapter and to enlarge their network and horizon.

What is the club looking forward to this year?

Everything related to helping the Lebanese community with their education, mainly helping students not able to transfer their tuition fees.

How do you think the club embodies IE’s values?

All the values of IE are represented in our club: unity, helping each other, learning from each other, diversity, and adapting to innovation and sustainability.

How has the club adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic?

All our events are in hybrid mode.

What can a member of your club expect?

Have a good time and learn from the Lebanese community.

This year, with the special situation that our country is suffering, we are focusing on organising fundraising events to help the Lebanese NGOs on the ground.
