Join us for a discussion of the human mind through the lens of The Lord of the Rings, as we explore the complexity of Sméagol (Gollum), the corrupting nature of power, and what his emotional conflicts reveal about society's moral struggle.
Across cultures, histories, and generations, literature preserves, reimagines, and bears witness to the struggles of ordinary people. Marquez’s brought to life, to remembrance, and to light the folklores of Columbia, and as we read, remember, and retell these stories, we, too, become part of the eternal cycle of storytelling. This cycle ensures no history, struggle, or solitude is ever truly forgotten

In the museum, we walked into the room housing Goya's dark series, full of melodrama, moving with life, and it felt like there were ghosts from centuries past peering upon us. Morbid. Deep. Dark. Shadowy. And more than ever before, I tend to understand why paintings are so cherished, highly prized, and enduringly relevant because of the stories they show about a nation's past, which is eternally present and alive for viewers.
